CEDAR
“With tenacious roots and a sturdy trunk, the magnificent cedar tree has long been held as a cleansing and protective plant, and a symbol of strength and endurance.
It is often burned as a purifying incense when entering sacred healing spaces.
Cedar helps release what gets in the way of remembering the exquisite miracle of all bodies. ”

About Dr. Parks
Dr. Elizabeth Parks brings a heart-centered, family-centered approach to veterinary medicine.
I have always had deep respect and reverence for all species. Aligning my career with my purpose has been a lifelong journey. After college, I explored the human-only social services field. After doing some deep-purpose work, I became clear that veterinary medicine would be my path for service work. It is an honor to support families and their beloved animals during the end-of-life process.
I have spent the last decade honing my veterinary skills at two small practices, specializing in internal medicine, pain management, and feline medicine. I expanded the medical modalities I offer beyond Western Medicine by studying Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture under Dr. Steve Marsden, Dr. Nate Heilman, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). My hospice and end-of-life mentorship has been with Dr. Karen Whala of Codapet and Dr. Kathleen Cooney with CAETA. Currently, I also provide volunteer veterinary care to the pets of unhoused and indigenous communities in the Twin Cities.
My family and I live in South Minneapolis. My partner and I are raising our elementary-aged child with intention and curiosity. We love to be outdoors, whether in the garden, paddling, biking, or camping.
The elder and leader of the home is Ida, our long-haired, black cat. She has me wrapped around her paw.
Patient Stories
“My sweet Sadie, a 100 pound Bernese mountain dog, developed inoperable cancer when she was 7 years. Due to Dr. Parks’s expert recommendations for herbs and changing her diet, Sadie continued with her jovial behavior, going for walks and loving life. She lived another 3 1/2 years to 10 1/2 years old!. Dr. Parks adjusted Sadie’s herbs over the years to address the tumor growth as well as her arthritis. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Parks for her kind and caring treatment of Sadie.”

“Dr. Parks at Cedar Holistic Animal Care is a true gem for anybody who deeply cares about giving their pets a high-quality life. They have been able to address chronic issues nobody else could figure out and provide an expanded and effective treatment list for my aging dog with arthritis, hip dysplasia, and chronic urinary issues. Dr. Parks provides meticulous care to match your pet with a holistic solution to address their needs. They take the time to include you in the care process, explaining everything clearly so you can make informed decisions without judgement.
Their collaborative approach, unique expertise, and dedication make a world of difference. I thought my dog was entering his last stage of life, but after incorporating new therapies and herbs per Dr. Park’s recommendation, the light in his eyes and bounce in his step returned. That was three years ago—and he still loves playing with his sister and taking long walks. Nobody can believe he is 12 years old. I’m grateful for Dr.Parks and the extra quality time I’ve been given with my best my bud.”

“Dr. Parks held my family and I in a very stressful and unexpected emergency situation with our beloved dog. They were grounded, clear, and knew exactly the questions to ask in order to help us make the most informed decision. They saved us thousands of dollars by helping us assess the risks of what may have been going on for her. Their love of animals is felt, even in traumatic situations, and it helped me trust we were in good hands.”
